There was a lawsuit several years ago regarding the 4th amendment and it was rejected by the court. So live with it or take the ferry where they don't look through your things:

For years now - an employees in his purple Kia has been parking in Paulus Hook to go fishing - under a clearly marked sign "NO PARKING" and the little ticket-mobile drives by, does nothing, EVERY SINGLE TIME. I complained about it once and he moved, only to come back to fish later in the afternoon.

This is why the health care situation as well as the legal system is clogged with nonsense cases like this. If you can't have a baby - ADOPT.

No - you're right - putting a small, scared animal in a container underneath a cold underbelly of a plane isn't cruel - its a regular party.

Hopefully this person will rent a car and drive cross-country - or pay up so the cats are properly looked after.

You can put them in a carrier and keep them under the seat in front of you. Sending them in the underbelly of the plane is cruel.

Putting a dog down is not violent; its actually a lot more humane than what that poor woman had to go through. However, I agree the tactics of PETA, etc. are way over the top.

All in all - a sad story - had the woman put some time into training her dogs, this wouldn't have happened. And now more people are going to bitch and moan about pitbulls.

How is dealing drugs "non-violent"? Explain that! Its terribly violent - not just hitting, stabbing, killing is considered an act of violence....some of the liberal dribble on this site is quite sad.

This sets a bad precedent. I'm surprised the ACLU doesn't come out and say that Megan's Law is against the "former" criminal's rights either. Or maybe they have?

Regardless, its a slipperly slope and watch the fun begin....

Maybe the police are just saying that so if - IF - it is somebody she knows will think they go away with it and make a mistake. Who the f*ck stabs a 7-month old? its not a good witness....

Its an interesting spin depending on which article you read. One says "luxury apartment" in Jersey city; another says how far he's fallen, going from a Bevery Hills mansion to an 800 square foot apartment in - horrors - Jersey City....

Honestly, its not worth the aggravation - all these insurances barely pay for anything. I had my dog neutered at six months old - the procedure cost me $500 (I opted for laser surgery) and the insurance company paid me $50. And for all his meds, appointments, etc. - they barely even made it worth the $75 a month I was paying for him....

Re: PARKING: Jersey City might refund drivers for 'illegal booting'

If you want to know why this is still happening, ask the guy who parks his car illegally every weekend to go fishing. I guarantee he will be here - most likely Sunday - its supposed to be the better of the two days this weekend.

Maroon Kia - parks there all day long - never gets ticketed - yet he's the one who boot everyone else. Please - anyone - ask him. Strange, bald, hispanic man muttering under his breathe - but ask him where your refunds are and why everybody ELSE keeps getting booted.

Re: Is being ignorant a requirement to work for the JC Parking Authority?

The worst part is that the person who used to do the booting for the parking authority (supposedly retired now) parks illegally every single weekend at the end of Warren Street under the sign that says "no parking any time" so he can go fishing. I actually saw one of those little carts drive right past his car and do nothing. So I stopped him and told him that its favoritism and that I can't afford to park my car in JC, why should this guy get to park there for free? He said he "wasn't hurting anyone," and drove away.

Its a maroon four door little sedan that's seen better days - just in case anybody at the authority cares to do a damn thing about it....

Re: Portside Towers - 155 Washington Street

Pros: The majority of the management team is awesome; very responsive, helpful, etc. For the most part, the concierges are nice, helpful as well as the maintenance guys. The gym is big, the views from the apartment, location - great.

Cons: The Manager only cares about money and what she can do for the prospective tenants as opposed to the existing ones. The diversity of the tenants can make for very interesting smells coming out the apartments. If you get an older model - be prepared for old appliances that don't always work, the newer ones are much better. They are constantly doing construction on updating the apartments as well as the parking lot. Apparently they do the parking lot around the Montessori School owner's schedule - because she is a squeaky wheel who always gets the grease. Her feelings are most definitely put before actual apartment tenants.

Good luck with your decision.

Skeptical - are you racist or honest? Is it time to say enough of treating politicians with kid-gloves because they happen to be a minority (which, BTW - are white men these days....)? I totally agree with what you have to say - I would love to make $104k off the backs of the HARD-WORKING tax payers of JC to do, well, nothing. Kudos to another well-written post!

Shocker - a taxi ran a red light? Even though its against the law to talk on mobile phones (unless they're hands-free), EVERY SINGLE time I've taken a taxi in JC - there's the driver, phone in hand, pressed against his ear - speaking in tongues and not paying attention to what he's doing. I'm sure absolutely no lesson will be learned here....FO SHO

I will get off my soapbox in a minute - we do NOT know if he killed himself, he was ill, took medicine for it as many people do. The stress of indictment, his guilt, whatever, could have done it. So lets not make it out that he killed himself until we know for sure. Off soapbox now.
