Sunday Night Traffic!
#2
Home away from home
Home away from home

It’s Sunday night again and the horns are blasting through Hamilton Park. I dread driving home from work in the late afternoon. Many times my street ( 10th Street ) turns into a one way with tunnel traffic creating a two lane one way! Horrible! I know a new bridge opened to Liberty State Park; is this the only reason traffic has become totally horrific in the past few months, especially on Sundays? We truly have become the 6th borough now!

Walkable

My sincere apologies to the two young self-absorbed women that were trying to cross 10th Street & Jersey Ave. downtown just now. I was stopped at a stop sign as 2 other cars turned and went through the intersection and now it was my turn. The two of you hesitated at first to cross so I decided to proceed through to return home after my 10 hour shift at work. One of the two women snidely yelled “ oh I guess you won’t let us cross”. Yes our neighborhood has been termed ‘ walkable ‘ by the large developers these past 20 years. Walkable does not mean invincible. You made me feel really bad so congratulations to you! You also reminded me how very fortunate and blessed I am to also own a lovely quiet home in Central Jersey too. I love the neighborhood but if I had to live here 24/7 I’d not be a happy person.

Why did they sell? It seemed like a very popular place.

That's a shame I always enjoyed the place at the original location. Service was fine for what it was. That odd bar where he moved was a mistake I think. Never been to Latham House but that's gotta be tough in that strange location. Running a small business in Jersey City is tough.

Went yesterday - wonderful! I do feel bad for the small fish store on Jersey. When the mayor comes to cut your ribbon on your new wonderful small business he never mentions this! So many ribbon cuttings on shop small but how many last here?

Got to get over there to check it out! I'm excited at what people are saying about the fish dept. I'm sure that small business on Jersey ( fish ) will be impacted. What ever happened to the mayor saying no chains downtown and all that silliness?

I'm glad I have a car ( and a primary residence ) in Central Jersey where I do 90% of our shopping at Wegmans. I find Shop Rite perfectly fine for simple meals and TJ's of course for our favorite coffee and cereal ( favorite cereal brand packaged in larger size at better cost exclusively for TJ's ).

The small businesses pay her for the interviews and coverage? I just thought that she is just another self appointed Jersey City expert from like the mid-west or like Mass. Whenever I happen to read something from her it's like ' oh wow oh how wonderful ' the new business is. Then it goes under and she's like onto the next wonderful fantastic Jersey City small business yadda yadda yadda. Bunch of fluff with no substance. She will eventually grow up, get married, have babies and move to like Montclair. It's all so so very silly!

Ah another piece about the up & coming Jersey City! We purchased 10 years ago and of course we are thrilled that our place has increased value. But in addition to our condo we are blessed to also retain our home in a beautiful suburb just as many of the high profile developers do! Because Jersey City is grand! And it's also grand to drive away from it too! There's only so many of these articles one can stomach. The pretentiousness is often exhausting. I look forward to the next one which will surely spotlight the new small businesses which will take the place of the closed small businesses. I look forward to hearing about the newest art scene run by transplanted mid- westerners which will replace the current ones. Also about 3/4 of the folks that purchased in our condo 10 years ago have moved on to other places that are not Jersey City. Don't get me wrong - we love it here. But the constant self congratulations have become a terrible awful bore.

I had a really good burger there with a salad. Didn't have anything fried or cheesecake. It was great! It's good to support small business here in Jersey City! ( as I have been instructed to do so ).

I'm proud to say that I've never stepped foot in one and never will. I'll never forget the night before they opened their stupid location in Union on Route 22. I rarely take that route between my Jersey City home and home in Central Jersey but for some reason I did that night. I sat in a friggin half hour traffic jam ( thought it was an accident with fatalities at first ) but, no, it was this idiotic place with tents and spotlights and clowns and games... What a bunch of idiots. Morons were camping out for their free fast crap food! Unreal!

Central Jersey, where my other beautiful home is. I mean let's face it - there's only so much wonderful art, small business, and great restaurants ( 30 Acres ) one can take.

I'm surprised our community did not continue to support them. I thought JC loves small business. Talk about throwing them under the bus. Your husband and your boys loved them! But, in the end, JC businesses come and go...come and go... On and on!

" it really was not financially stable " says it all! Jersey City continues to be the best NYC bedroom community for me, but these poor people that continue to think they can start a private business here that will be successful....no. This is the truth why nothing stays after a few years. Plain and simple and done.

I've never understood why local businesses feel they have to pay a fee to move their products out from their storefronts and under tents and piled on tables on Newark Avenue for a day. Crazy! I don't believe these things increase sales other than that one day.

Thank you Devil for educating me as I'm only here about half the time and don't follow the details of ' JC living' as you folks do. So I'm glad to hear that there still is a chance to bring a quality supermarket to our town!

The A-1 Deli space on Grove! What's going in there? New desks and phones right near the windows.

Like many other self proclaimed ' leaders ' of Jersey City ( many of them reside in the wealthier NJ suburbs ) I agree that our most wonderful mayor should do something to make the Path better. I love reading about his running marathons, his appearances at street festivals, and putting his old used piano on Newark Avenue but honestly the Path is packed and will only get worse with all of the new wonderful rentals being built.

How I wish this beautiful plaza could open also in the morning. One could pause and enjoy their morning coffee on one of the lovely wooden tables taking in the view.

Those silly wooden picnic tables painted obviously by amatures are pretty awful. Really really silly for all of the hype this ' lovely pedestrian plaza ' has received.

I really like the cereal bar concept! You could have a wall of milk. Fruit area. I think it could catch on. I say try it!
