I've tried 3 places in JC, and all were okay, but I think I'm looking for the Indian food I ate when in the UK, and the menus just aren't that. I prefer British Indian food.

It cost $600 to ship my things from the UK to the US - why in the world would I tip $400 to the 4 guys for carrying some boxes and furniture? A tip is just a "hey, thanks" to me, not a "Wow you guys are human beings you had to put sweat and stress into your job so here!" .. Maybe you underestimate how strong us guys can be ;)

Maybe we're talking about totally different scales of moving. If I was moving from a 3/4 bedroom house to the same, then I might consider a larger tip, but not for apartment moves, no way.

Tipping has gotten out of control. Every damn job has a tip jar or expects tips.

$20 per mover is fine, $5 per mover is fine. It's a tip, not payment of salary.

Am I the only one that doesn't mind the new build?

So many people are up in arms about it, but it is just a crap lot that could be brought to use. It is hyperbolic to suggest children are harmed by the "taking away" of that lot. If it was so important for school children, then surely the school district should have taken over the lot years ago. They didn't, so a developer has shown up to build on it. Great, perfect, get on with life. Children won't know the better.

It's surprisingly difficult to find local charities online. I found one or two, but they only serve women and children. Men are often left out of charitable giving. Can't find any men's charity in JC. May end up having to send my money out of town.

Being someone that has moved between countries and places fairly often, I'm very aware of that time it takes for a place to feel like "home". It is one of the worst parts of moving - no place feels like "home". For me, it was somewhere around getting curtains hung up on the windows, and getting my framings on the walls.

Moving again in a couple months. Here we go again.

I've gone there when I've been too lazy to walk to Legal Grounds. The service has always been slow, even though I've pretty much been the only one ordering. I think the staff could try and up their tempo a bit. Beyond that, it's too pricey anyway.

Tried Cocoa Bakery the other day for cappuccino. It was good, but also pretty slow and pricey. I'm going to stick with Legal Grounds when getting coffee. Plus they have a good Wonder Bagel selection.

Yeah, so Brewshot sucks in my humble opinion

Rustique for pizza

Those are my usual go-to places. I've tried others but have been most satisfied by these places.

Today was not a normal day. At about 9:30 there was a medical emergency on a 33rd street train just after it left Grove Street. Only WTC trains were then sent through. I gave up after 20+ minutes of waiting, got a coffee, came down 30 minutes later and there were still crowds.

Is not paying the fee even an option?

My landlord uses a broker to handle filling his apartments so he doesn't have to worry about it. I had to pay a broker fee and I'm fairly sure he did too!

He could have advertised it on CL himself and avoided all that. I think the broker is there for convenience.

My friends (a couple) have gone there several times (though don't believe they're returning ever again after a bad experience there). They said anything with meat is good -- burgers, steak, but that anything that wasn't meat wasn't great.

I ate there once. I like having Peroni on draft, but the prices were a bit dear. I ordered a salad with goats cheese, cranberries, etc (that has a name, right?), and I enjoyed it.

I'd surprised by the negativity in it, but definitely agree with them on the bone marrow tacos. They should have also mentioned the bone marrow tacos are the greasiest thing going.

Having lived in England for years, I'm very against speed cameras.

People know where the cameras are (even SATNAV systems show it), so you speed, and then slow down for the 50 feet the camera is looking at, then speed up again. They are just there to get more money out of citizens and aren't effective.
