Re: House Inspector to avoid--John Estes, Regional Home Inspection

That's what owning an old house means, no matter what inspector you have, there will be a myriad of issues.

House Inspector to avoid--John Estes, Regional Home Inspection

Newbie

I bought an older home in JC last year and used a house inspector named John Estes. He missed so many fundamental issues with the house: faulty plumbing, electrical, chimneys that should have shown up during the inspection.

For example, there were no traps in bathroom, and sewage smell was covered up by seller. We only discovered this after we moved in.

There are many other issues, small and large. While inspectors are not infallible, this one clearly did not see, or overlooked, some glaring problems. We are now paying the price. Buyers beware!

I usually take the kids to the one in Secaucus.
It's clean & fair priced.

You are out of your mind. He was a proponent of open borders in North America.

There is also no evidence at all he regretted the amnesty..

Re: Parking rules this week

Quite a regular

In past updates, "all" has been clarified as meaning meters, zone, and street sweeping. When it says "alternate side suspended" (a.k.a. street sweeping) but doesn't say "all" and doesn't mention meters or zone, I would take it to mean that meters and zone/permits are still enforced.

With that said, everyone on my street was off the sweeping side today and the sweeper came. 1) No one knew about it and 2) if people are allowed to park, wouldn't it be useless for the sweeper to come?!

Hi all,

The JC Parking Authority twitter feed says that alternate side is suspended through January 1, but does that impact cars without a resident permit parked on residential streets?

I can call them in the morning, but just wanted to see if anyone can give me peace of mind tonight. Thanks and happy holidays!

Lol. Hopefully Yvnonne didn't teach economics or math.

I proudly did because my students actually scored very high in the math portions of state exams. I actually wish NYS and the Archdiocese of NYC would release my students' scores.

Unfortunately, you did not go far enough with Reagan statement on immigration. What he signed was allowing anyone who came here before 1984, amnesty. He signed this in 1986. So that means anyone who arrived here illegally after 1984, is in violation of Reagan's immigration law. But actually, it you speak to people who know Reagan personally, he actually regretted signing this law. Google this, if you do not believe me.

This comparison is meaningless if you're not compensating for inflation. $90M in 1975 had the buying power of $430M today. So you're making an approx 1.5x comparison ($430M vs $600M) look like 7x.

This has nothing to do with the Boomer generation. I read budgets. In the 1970s, when the boomers were young, the city council budget was $90 million and it took 300 years to get to that point, in the by the early 2000s, it jumped to $321 million. Now less than 20 years later, it is over $600 million. It has to do with bonding and spending. And that is just city government.

"In 2017, Jersey City passed a ?no-knock? law, partly in response to complaints by some homeowners in the Greenville section and other areas of the city that they were being harassed by people wanting to purchase their homes."

Condemning the actions of a group of people behaving like brutes does not equal condemnation of the entire large, incredibly diverse faith that the group belongs to.

This tiptoeing around the actions of the ultra-orthodox, for fear of being labeled anti-semitic, is how towns like Ramapo, NY lose control of their zoning and schools.

When a School Board Victimizes Kids

The timing of Terrell-Paige's post was awful, however, and had no place in this particular conversation.

Sudhan Thomas, thank god we voted that corrupt scum bag out.

This guy, as well as freshly infamous anti-semitic nut job Joan Terrell-Paige, are candidates backed by and pushed into office by the Jersey City teachers' union, thanks very much Ron Greco.

These are the people in charge of Jersey City's school system.
