Explore the Hudson River Estuary
Join us for a hands-on exploration of our estuary and come try your hand at dragging a seine net. You never know what you may find in and around the waters of the Hudson! Waders will be provided. Please dress to be outdoors and wear old shoes that can get wet and muddy. If it is a hot day, sunscreen and water are also recommended. We will meet at the Park Office located at 200 Morris Pesin Drive and then drive over to the beach. You will need your own vehicle to get there.

This program is appropriate for adults and families with children ages 5 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Program fee is $3.00 per person.

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. For more information or how to register, please contact the Nature Interpretive Center at 201-915-3400 x202 or email LSPNatureCenter@dep.nj.gov.

5th Annual Monticello Avenue Street Festival
5th ANNUAL MONTICELLO AVENUE STREET FESTIVAL
FEATURES ATTEMPT TO SET A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

Jackson Hill Main Street Special Improvement District (JHMS SID) will be hosting the Fifth Annual Monticello Avenue Street Festival to be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 12 pm to 6pm along Monticello Avenue between Communipaw and Jewett Avenues.

This year will feature an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the longest Soul Train line! “We hope to draw a massive crowd to put Jackson Hill and Jersey City in the record books. We are excited to host this type of event in the Jackson Hill District,” stated Michele Massey, Executive Director. “We need to have more than 426 participants in order to best the record. Come out Jersey City, let’s have some fun, and break a record!”

The Street Festival covers 6 blocks and it is our intent to grow the event as far down Monticello Avenue as possible. This will be a wonderful day for the JHMS SID filled with family friendly activities. Activities will feature main stage performances offering diverse entertainment for the whole family and there will be a special children’s area featuring games, balloon art, face painting, and a petting zoo with pony rides. The rain date for the festival is September 15.

There will be vendors with merchandise from clothing to original artwork and jewelry. There will also be a variety of delicious foods available for purchase. Interested vendors should contact the Jackson Hill Office or email manager@ jacksonhillms.com. There are vendor opportunities available.

The Festival is supported in part by JC Department of Cultural Affairs, Christine Goodman, Ex. Dir. and Mayor Steven Fulop and the City of Jersey City.
