Sunday Meet the Artist Series - Winard Harper presents Gene Ghee 1984 at the Loew's
Show your support for two local institutions and for federal library and arts funding!

Join the Jersey City Free Public Library and the Friends of the Loew's as we present a screening of the classic dystopian tale 1984. Based on George Orwell’s 1949 novel, this celebrated film adaptation was written and directed by Michael Radford, and stars John Hurt, Richard Burton, and Suzanna Hamilton.

FIRST 100 ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE A FREE COPY OF THE NOVEL "1984" -- COMPLIMENTS OF THE JCFPL FOUNDATION!

We are also proud to present a discussion panel made up of local arts and community leaders, who will use themes brought forward in the film to explore the challenges and possibilities for the arts in the coming years. In light of the threats to critical programs such as the Institute for Museum and Library Services and National Endowment for the Arts contained in the Trump Administration’s recently published budget priorities, many worry that it will become very difficult for arts and community organizations to secure federal funding, as well as the local matching dollars that such indispensable federal programs often require.

All proceeds from the screening will benefit equally the Jersey City Free Public Library and Friends of the Loew's, both 501(c)(3) organizations serving the people of Jersey City, New Jersey.
